Social Change 2.0 Community of Practice

A Letter from David Gershon

Welcome to the Social Change 2.0 community of practice. We have created this on-line learning community to support members in applying the Social Change 2.0 framework to their social change initiatives. To facilitate networking and cross pollinating of ideas, we ask you create a brief profile to enable those members with common interests to better connect and to help us all get to know each other better.

Our learning process revolves around members posting specific requests for help in applying the Social Change 2.0 principles and practices to their social change initiative, raising questions they wish to explore about different aspects of the framework, and sharing success stories. If you are participating in an offline discussion group, we encourage you to raise issues that come out of those conversations. There is also the opportunity to set up specialized forums for people working in similar content areas such as climate change, education, inner city revitalization, sustainability, resiliency, and women’s empowerment in the developing world; and within similar sectors or niches such as community-based organizations, local government agencies, social entrepreneurs, funders, corporate social responsibility initiatives, college and high school service learning programs and clubs, and faith-based social action committees.

Along the way we will be accumulating best practices and inviting members to develop case studies based on their experience applying the framework. I will be participating as a community member and will be periodically weighing in on the questions and issues raised in the community. I will also be looking for ways to continually evolve the quality of our collective learning and growth experience.

I thank you in advance for your participation in our community of practice and am very excited by this opportunity to develop a high level collaboration. Working together, we will accelerate the quality and take up of the many transformative social innovations needed to reinvent our world.

Wishing you great success in your social change work,

David
